Hey, who wants David Ortiz? Well the truth is that no one did in December2002. Any team in baseball could have had him. The Minnesota Twins cut Ortiz in December of 2002, because they decided he wasn't worth the pay arbitration. For four long weeks, he was just a baseball player for hire. Any team could have had him. He was only a call away.

“I would have gone anywhere," Ortiz said. "I just wanted a chance,”
As Joe Torri (Manager) says, “whenever I see a pitcher strike out David Ortiz, I tell Brain Cashmen that we need that pitcher, he is that good.” Infact Joe and George both wanted David but Brain Cashmen said that they had Jason Giambi and Nick Johnson there was no need to sign Ortiz. (Brain Cashmen is the General Manager)
